Fragility of short?chain poly(lactic acid)s derivatives by combining dielectric spectroscopy and fast scanning calorimetry

چکیده

Low-molecular-mass bio-polyesters, such as lactic acid oligomers, constitute a growing category of plasticizers for poly (lactic acid), since they show good compatibility and are respectful the environment. This study focuses on glass transition series oligomers with different molecular weights, aim investigating how their associated dynamics occur. Dielectric calorimetric results combined to mobility in large temperature range. In comparison exhibit lower fragility index smaller cooperative rearranging regions. Among is clearly dependent weight, whereas variations cooperativity subtler.

Phase transformations undergone by Triton X-100 probed by differential scanning calorimetry and dielectric relaxation spectroscopy.

The phase transformations of the surfactant Triton X-100 were investigated by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), polarized optical microscopy (POM), and dielectric relaxation spectroscopy (DRS). In particular, crystallization was induced at different cooling rates comprised between 13 and 0.5 K min(-1). Vitrification was detected by both DSC and DRS techniques with a glass transition temp...

Direct determination of the kinetic fragility index of glassforming liquids by differential scanning calorimetry

A calorimetric method of obtaining directly the fragility of liquids from the fictive temperatures of variably quenched glasses, is outlined. "Steepness indexes" m, have been determined for a group of molecular liquids of diverse character, and vary in the range 50-150. The values obtained mostly agree well with those from earlier studies using dielectric relaxation, heat capacity spectroscopy,...

Evaluation and Characterization of Free and Immobilized Acethylcholinesterase with Fluorescent Probe, Differential Scanning Calorimetry and Docking

Acetylcholinesterase (AChE) enzyme which catalyses the hydrolysis of choline esters, such as acetylcholine, is very important in nerve function. Previous structural studies showed the possible amyloid fibril formation on the AChE. Therefore it is important to understand interaction of ligands to prevent the formation of  amyloid fibrils. The purpose of the present study was to  char...

Poly(lactic acid)/Polystyrene Bioblends Characterized by Thermogravimetric Analysis, Differential Scanning Calorimetry, and Photoacoustic Infrared Spectroscopy

Bioblends are composites of at least one biodegradable polymer with nonbiodegradable polymer. Successful development of bioblends requires that the biodegradable polymers be compatible with other component polymers. Compatibility can be assessed by evaluating the intermolecular interactions between the component polymers. In this work, the interaction in binary bioblends comprising biodegradabl...

Determination of volatility of ionic liquids at the nanoscale by means of ultra-fast scanning calorimetry.

The determination of vaporization enthalpies of extremely low volatility ionic liquids is challenging and time consuming due to the low values of vapor pressure. In addition, these liquids tend to decompose even at temperatures where the vapor pressure is still low. Conventional methods for determination of vaporization enthalpies are thus limited to temperatures below the decomposition tempera...
